Tri-Tip Tacos

Habanero Mango Salsa

  • 1 mango, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup red onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup red pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 habanero pepper, finely diced
  • 1 jalapeno, finely diced
  • 1 lime, squeezed for juice
  • 2 tsp. Kinder’s Tequila Lime BBQ Rub


    Habanero Mango Salsa

    1. Mix mango, red onion, red pepper, green onions, habanero pepper, jalapeno pepper, lime juice and Kinder’s Tequila Lime BBQ Rub into a mixing bowl.
    2. Let salsa rest for at least 30 minutes in refrigerator (for best results, let rest overnight in refrigerator).

    Tri-Tip Tacos

    1. Season tri-tip thoroughly with Kinder’s Woodfired Garlic BBQ Rub. Set aside at room temperature until ready to cook.
    2. Preheat outdoor gas grill to high heat (450°F). If using a charcoal grill, arrange coals to one side of grill to create direct (high heat) and indirect (low) heating areas.
    3. Place tri-tip directly above flame and grill for 5-7 minutes on first side, then flip and grill for an additional 8 minutes to sear the meat and lock in juices. 
    4. Remove from direct heat and place meat on indirect heat and continue cooking until internal temperature reaches 130-135°F (Medium Rare). Remove from grill and let rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
    5. Heat tortillas.
    6. Fill tortillas with tri-tip and top with habanero mango salsa. Top with Kinder’s Exxxtra Hot BBQ Sauce and serve with lime wedges. Enjoy!
